چکیده
Abstract We investigated the industrial applicability of multifunctional flame-retardant epoxy gelcoats based on flame retardants containing phosphorus (P), in particular ammonium polyphosphate (APP, which acts solid phase), resorcinol bis(diphenyl phosphate) (RDP, mainly gas phase) and their combination. It was possible to apply most formulations via spraying with use a diluent, while RDP were sprayable without diluent. The presence both provided excellent fire performance, Shore D hardness decreased significantly, is favourable terms flexibility. compared effect composite (wet compression moulding vacuum infusion) gelcoat manufacturing (brushing spraying) technologies behaviour. Both infusion significantly peak heat release rate total coated samples during mass loss type cone calorimetry tests. composites prepared by showed best overall performance. Heat rates, three-point bending test results dynamic mechanical analysis revealed that retardancy base itself can be omitted.

In current years composites have concerned considerable importance as a potential operational material. Low cost, light weights, high specific modulus, renewability, and biodegradability are the most basic & common attractive features of composites that make them useful for industrial applications. Luffacylindrical locally called as “sponge-gourd” is one such natural resource whose potential as...
متن کاملStudy of fire retardant behavior of carbon nanotube membranes and carbon nanofiber paper in carbon fiber reinforced epoxy composites
Single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) and multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) membranes (buckypaper) and carbon nanofiber (CNF) paper were incorporated onto the surface of epoxy carbon fiber composites, as proposed fire shields. Their flammability behaviors were investigated by a cone calorimeter. SWCNT buckypaper and CNF paper did not show notable improvement on fire retardancy. However, MWCN...

In this study, epoxy composite specimens reinforced with multi-walled carbon nanotube filler were fabricated using shear mixer and ultra-sonication processor. The mechanical and thermal properties of the fabricated specimens were measured and evaluated. From the electron microscope images and the results from the measurements of tensile strengths, the specimens having 0.6 wt% nanotube content s...
متن کاملEffect of Chopped Carbon Fiber on Electrical and Thermal properties of Carbon Reinforced Epoxy Composites
This work presents an insight into the effect of conductive filler content on both electrical and thermal properties of a polymer composite system. The electrical conductivity of an insulating polymer can be achieved by dispersing conducting fillers (e.g., metal, graphite powder, carbon black, carbon fiber) in the polymer matrix. The resulting materials are referred to as conducting polymer com...
متن کاملReciprocating Wear Behaviour of Two Dimensionally Reinforced Carbon-Phenolic and Carbon-Epoxy Composites
A comparative study has been carried out on performance of two-dimensionally reinforced carbon/ phenolic (C/P) and carbon/epoxy (C/E) composites, subjected to low amplitude reciprocating wear at different temperatures. The C/P composite has shown greater wear rate than the C/E composite, with the difference being modest at room temperature, and larger at 250 °C. The values of coefficient of fri...
